Honorary Citizen of Warsaw since 30th May 2019

He started working for the Underground State in 1942 (Szare Szeregi [Grey Ranks], District Wola, Giermkowie Wolności , Troop IV, Squad III). He participated in the operations of the so called minor sabotage. On 2 August 1944, after the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, he joined “Anna” Company of the NOW-AK „Gustaw” Battalion in Wola District and assumed the pseudonym of “Czarny”. He fought in the battles on Wolska St. and near the Evangelical Cemetery. After retreat to Starówka he was manning the barricades at Ślepa  Street. He also fought in the battles of St Martin’s Church and the Cathedral of St John the Baptist. On 13 August 1944 he was injured in an explosion of the so called trap tank on Kilińskiego Street. On 2 September 1944 he moved to Środmieście via the city's sewer system. There he fought in defence battles of Krakowskie Przedmieście and the area of Ogród Saski Park. After the Uprising he was imprisoned in POW camps (Stalag XI-B in Fallingbostel and Stalag VI J in Dorsten). He returned to Poland in 1947. He studied at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Warsaw and Medical University of Warsaw. He obtained the diploma of a medical doctor in 1952. Five years later he passed a 2nd degree medical speciality exam in neurology. In 1958 he received his PhD in medicine, and in 1964 he received a post-doctoral degree of doktor habilitowany in medicine. In 1976 he was awarded the degree of professor in medicine, and became a full professor in 1993.
In the years 1974-1975 he founded the Second Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Warsaw, and served as its first dean from 1975 to 1978. In the years 1987-1998 he was the head of Neurology and Epileptology Clinic of the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education. In the years 1979-1986 he was the heed of Department of Clinical Neurophysiology of the New York State Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities. He conducted numerous research projects.
Since 2003 he has been the President of Środowisko Żołnierzy Batalionów AK „Gustaw” i „Harnaś” Światowego Związku Żołnierzy Armii Krajowej [Soldiers of Home Army’s “Gustaw” and “Harnaś” Battalions of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers] and a member of the Association of Warsaw Insurgents. Prof. Majowski starred in a campaign launched by the Polish Ministry of National Defence entitled “Rycerze Biało-Czerwonej” which was aimed at introducing younger generations to the WW2 fight for freedom.
He is a holder of a Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Cross of Valour, Home Army Cross, Warsaw Uprising Cross, Partisan Cross, Medal of the National Education Commission, First Class Cross of the Order of the Cross of Independence, and among other honours a Gold Badge for Merit to Warsaw.
